It’s exactly what it sounds like - book one place, and you can bring a friend along at no extra cost.
How to Stay Safe Outdoors: Tips from a Qualified Outdoor Leader
It’s National Outdoor Safety Week!
Spending time outdoors is one of the best things you can do; for your physical health, your mental wellbeing, and your sense of adventure.
But one thing I see time and time again as a qualified outdoor leader is this: most people head outdoors far less prepared than they think.
In recognition of National Outdoor Safety Week, I wanted to share the simple, practical things I always do to stay safe, whether I’m heading out for a short walk or a full day in the hills.
Because it’s rarely the big things that cause problems. It’s the small oversights that catch people out.
Two Perfect Days in Eryri: A Weekend in the Ogwen Valley
There’s something about Eryri that keeps pulling me back, and this weekend, I completely fell in love with it all over again.
I spent two nights tucked away in the beautiful Ogwen Valley, which, in my opinion, is one of the very best bases for exploring the area. Peaceful, dramatic, and surrounded by towering peaks, it’s the kind of place that instantly slows you down while still inviting adventure.
Two New Skills Workshops Are Here
If you’ve ever stood on a hill looking out across the Peak District and thought “I wish I knew how to do this properly on my own” then this is for you.
Over the last couple of years of leading hikes, I’ve noticed the same thing come up again and again in conversations on the trail. People want to explore more independently. They want to plan their own hikes, understand the map in their pocket, and feel confident heading out with friends without worrying they’re missing something important.
A sunrise in the Peak District to ruin all future sunrises…
2026 started wonderfully. On Saturday 3rd January, I led a group of 8 wonderful people on a sunrise hike at one of my favourite spots in the Peak District - The Roaches. We pulled up at the base to be greeted by a clear sky and a full moon which brightened up quite quickly; pink tinges started to appear as we set off up Hen Cloud.
Name in print…
A few months ago I had the pleasure of putting some words together for Ross & Kryi for their launch issue of a new outdoor magazine, Dayhike.
It was a pleasure, to have them even interested in my story of becoming a leader, but then for them to give me free reign on putting my thoughts down in print was very special.
